1. Intensifiers: So vs Such
These structures intensify the meaning (make it stronger).
تستخدم لتقوية معنى الصفة (جداً).
so + adjective
My friends are so nice.
(تستخدم مع الصفة فقط).
such + adjective + noun
They are such nice people.
(تستخدم مع الصفة + الاسم).2. Limits: Enough vs Too
تستخدم لتوضيح الحدود أو عدم الملاءمة.
Rule:
• Enough comes after adjectives (old enough).
• Too comes before adjectives (too big).
• Enough comes after adjectives (old enough).
• Too comes before adjectives (too big).
adj + enough
She is not old enough to marry.
too + adj (+ to + inf)
This shirt is too big for me.
It is too far to walk.
3. Adjective + To + Infinitive
Used to show reaction, ease, or difficulty.
تستخدم لإظهار رد الفعل أو مدى سهولة/صعوبة الفعل.
adj + to + inf
This question is hard to answer.
I was sorry to hear that.
Common Adjectives: difficult, easy, hard, happy, pleased, sad, surprised.
4. Character: It is… of you
Used to comment on someone’s behavior.
تستخدم للتعليق على سلوك شخص ما (لطف منك، وقاحة منه…).
It is + adj + of + person + to…
It is nice of you to help me.
It was mean of him to lie.
5. Forms Following Adjectives
A. Adj + That-clause
Used for feelings or certainty.
I’m glad that you’re here.
She felt certain that she saw him.
B. Adj + -ing form
Specific adjectives only.
Busy / Worth
She was busy doing homework.
This book is worth reading.
⚠️ Note: “Busy” and “Worth” CANNOT take “to + infinitive”.
